There, and I’m being as honest as I ever could be when I’d admit right off the bat – I had NO INKLING that this would be happening! But the twists and turns of a TV show are not what this post is about…instead it’s about the change in the way we viewers use social media to react…and to rant and rave!
Well, in this case…it’s rant mostly as I’ve scoured the various online media sites looking for reactions – and there are hundreds of thousands of “gee whiz I hate it” type tweets and posts and forum comments….and so far I’ve not found a single “yea, way to go” types out there at all (warning spoilers coming!)….and much like “The Red Wedding” episode of the Game of Thrones last summer a huge change in the show’s plot too, eh!
It’s probably no real surprise to our readers that Social Media can play an important part in how one “expresses” themselves about something you care about….and last nite’s Game of Thrones HBO television show validates that premise entirely!
That is, does Social Media enable it’s users to quickly shout out their opinions to one and all?
First, my disclaimer….our youngest son Tanner turned us on to the HBO tv show…..by playing most of season 2 as a marathon about a month ago….and yup, I was hooked!
A large part of the ability to do great work for clients in the SEO & Social Media world, is the ability to help them gain social authority….meaning that in their own channel, they are perceived as experts who offer help and counsel freely.
Top quality counsel, mind you…and that can only come from using our best SEO & Social Media skills to build that online reputation for them invisibly.
Invisibly? Well, think on the contra side of that….what we do is we sell to a client our ability to get them SEO site rankings that are built on their Social Media program…and it’s not the client who does it – it’s us.

Four important steps to ponder on before you invest the time and effort into any marketing campaign using social media. And the “why” am I doing this is because I was just interviewed by a freelancer on this topic and yup, it got me thinking on same, eh!
Friday, the sun is finally shining and I’m thinking that I’ve got more than enough on my “first of the year” long summer weekends….so here’s a roundup of the top outstanding items I’ve been looking at mentionning – and now am, eh!
First up today, is Experian, the folks who run hitwise.com, the site that provides insight and tracks how millions of users use their 1 million website network and then provide cool stats and research on same….and for today, you might want to take a look/see over at this canuck URL. What impresses me, as usual I might add as I take this click at least a couple of times a month, is that over the past few months the type and timbre of the most used search engine keywords and phrases once again mirrors our common culture!
Yup, this is the third annual version of the 2011 Social Media Marketing Report, from the folks over at Social Media Examiner - and as usual, I’m pumped about the results! First, go and download the .pdf for yourownself and then dig in!
I know that if you’re like me, you’ll find this report chock full of great items….on every type and kind of question that one can think about.
You can also watch the video of same too…ion that same page, eh…for a quick summary — but dont think that there aren’t a whole lot of other aspects to learn when you download the full report and read it in it’s entirety!
Well, keeping up with Google is a real chore at times and a new, just launched program entitled “Google +1″ has entered the online social mileu in the last few days. And what do I think? Ummm…well, here’s the skinny on this attempt by Google to try to IMHO, institute a new “social” indicator into their web results.
First, do go to that link and look over the video that explains what it is Google is attempting to “do” by instituting such a new method for those of us who wish to “review” a site, can do so. When you’re done that, come on back….
Hopefully, if you read here regularily, you know that I’ve written about a wineclub startup called UncorkedVentures.com from California before and if you read here you may remember same, eh! We first blogged about them almost a full year ago here….and the gist of that post was that like many SMBs new to SEO, he’d gotten bad advice, outmodde advice, advice that can hurt his site….and acted on it.
