Again, as I know when the day turns to Friday, that yup, it’s been a busy busy week filled with clients and online marketing Campaigns and startups and crowdfundning and angel investing….thank gosh there’s only 24 hours in a day!

That said, as is my norm on most Fridays, when I find an infographic or two I save ‘em up and show ‘em off via my end-of-week post….hence today I’ve got a couple to share and as the title of this blog post says, it’s on the “marketing” of yourself to gain online rep authority…and hopefully help you close the leads that come out of your sales funnel…

market-self-fb-290x300So to begin with, when I found this one entitled “15 Tips for Marketing Yourself” over at topwebdesignschools.org, and while it’s subtitled that it’s for “freelancers and web designers” it’s spot on for every single one of us in business! There’s a really great list here, and you should go thru it one-by-one, but for me the ones that hit best were as follows…

#6 says to “be prepared” and by that they mean for us all to “develop an “elevator pitch,” a brief, conversational summary of what services you provide. And be ready to polish it on the spot, personalizing it depending on the person you’re talking to…” Boy is this one ever spot-on! I can not even tell you the number of times that I’ve been to networking events and have asked “so, what do you do” and gotten a blank stare as a response, or a ‘well, I sell real estate’ or the like. If you can’t craft a great short elevator pitch to use every time that kind of query comes up, then most likely you’re not anywhere near as professional as you could be. For instance, if you do sell real estate, you might say when asked what you do is that you “help familys live where they want in comfort and at an affordable price…” kind of answer. Or that you “provide the means for new businesses to get great rental space to grow and succeed right here in town…” kind of answer. Both speak to the benefits of using your skillSet to help either a residential or commercial client find the home or offices that they need, eh! And yeah, that’s marketing!

#10 speaks directly to me too in that it’s labelled as “cultivate connections!” Ahh…networking is truly king when it comes to business I’ve found over 40 years of doing just that…so you should really attend industry events, join Internet message boards, connect with bloggers. Become “the guy” people think of when they hear someone has a need for just what it is you “do”! Top-of-mind awareness is where it’s at….and yeah, you should wiki that term to learn more, eh!

Oh, and #12 and #14 are also well worth the click-thru to see more, eh…in fact they all are!

questLastly today, I thought that I’d add one more that seemed to also be top-notch, and it’s entitled “The Quest for Great Content” over at wpromote.com, and while it’s a statistical review of all the bottle-necks that we online marketing types run up against, it’s still a great way to review same.

There is no question that truly “content is king” and to try to create that content that is the best link-bait is often too too time consuming or costly and the ROI must be studied very very closely. This infographic however tries to show you how content marketing ‘works’ within SEO, within promotion, within strategy and reporting too. It’s a great study…you’ll need some time to digest it all…but it is also about the complete globe which makes the knowledge passed along particularily solid for us NA marketers who wish to increase our global knowledge, eh!

So, weeks over…there’s your weekend homework and see you all next Monday….now go SEO something!
