On the Hunt for Better Online Marketing Counsel?
Okay as our regular readers know, we love what we do! We truly like to get into the office and online every single day and as early as possible, to help our client roster succeed at getting new traffic sent to their sites and we do it over and over again – but always remembering that the search engine target is a moving one….one you need to keep your eye on all the dang time!
That said, we also of course “bump” into all types and kinds of other viewpoints and whenever such opinions (backed up by tested empirical evidence that is) help us learn more, we know that this is also very important counsel and we try to incorporate same into our own online marketing practice on a daily basis.
Who’s opinions you might want to know? Well there’s a real bunch of same…and we follow their blogs/forums/boards every single day looking for their “gems” that help us work on our own online marketing biz…and I thougth today I’d share some of these true marketing geniuses in no particular order, here’s my shortened reading list for every morning.
Mike Blumenthal – or Professor Maps as we call him, knows about every single LOCAL search factor that counts, doesn’t count, used to count, no longer counts, may slightly count, could count….the list is long. His blog title of course says it all…and you should DEFINITELY add him to your own list of folks to count on when it comes to advice! Oh, and make sure that you read his full and lengthy list of comments for each too…some of the contributors there are also well known North American SEO types and they too present a great addition of depth and insight to Mike’s posts! So #kudos Mike….you’re still #1 in on my list.
And then there’s Andrew Shotland of localseoguide.com is also of that same expert stature and I read his blog every single day to see what’s new, what I’ve missed, what Andrew is thinking about etc. etc. If there’s a guy in California who knows more about SEO than Andrew…he’s surely not findable as just about everyone I know refers back to Andrew as a true leading edge practitioner! #kudos Andrew….you too keep me (and my clients) on our toes, eh!
Next, is a whole Skype private group of a blend of Canadian and US based SEO practitioners who belong to a group that I’ve been a member of now for years and no, you can’t just “get included” in same….but you can break down this group by some of it’s major contributors and learn that way. By my count there’s only 16 of us – but what a list it is, eh! Here’s a screenshot of our SEO Experts group….fyi -
As you can see we’ve got some of the best knowen SEO practitioners here and they all contribute, comment and yes generally there’s dozens if not hundreds of back-and-forth comments on everything from new SEO tools to try to latest algo updates to phony SEO scams to watch out for too. We also, I note, include in leads here too, that if we can’t take same, we ask this group if anyone is interested which is a great way to help the group as a whole.
As you’ll note there a simple google for any of those SEO expert’s names will bring up tons of hits on their skillsets, their speaking dates etc etc and also of course their blogs too! We’re led here by Matthew Hunt of smallbusinessonlinecoach.com and his expertise coupled with his management of our Skype group is terrrific as are his monthly online conference calls where just about anything/everything SEO is discussed! So again #kudos Matt…great to be a part of this group!
And yes, there’s some real experts here too! Dev Basu of poweredbysearch.com is a leading Canadian SEO jediMaster too…and if you’ve not heard of Nyagoslav Zhekov from overseas they you just aren’t keeping up with local citations and his blog here is a great place to learn more…much more on LOCAL search too, eh!
Our own Edmonton based Darren Shaw of whitespark.ca is a real SEO type who not only performs miracles for his own clients – but builds some SEO tools that so far are about the best I’ve seen. Do go and learn more about Darren and then drill down on his local citations area to see what I mean. THIS is a tool that can help you right away….and so #kudos too to Darren and his team!
And not gender specific at all, our list includes some damn smart and capable women too….Linda Buquet of local expertise over at catalystemarketing.com is also a constant contributor as is Miriam Ellis of Solas Web Design is too and Mary Bowling of marybowling.com is just as helpful with tips and her latest take on what seems to work best on all things SEO!
Google any or all of these names and see what you find…and then realize that yup, these SEO practitioners know their stuff, eh…and add them to your own daily reading list.
And yes, it will help….it truly will!Google
