SEO Roundup: A Re-Cap of many things SEO!
Okay, it’s Monday and my morning has been busy busy busy already…which to my way of thinkinng will lead to one busy week too…so today’s post is short but I thought it apropos to recap some interesting items that have appeared on my Canadian SEO world horizon.
There’s many of course…too too many to try to roundup here…but in my mind there’s a couple of real winners and so I thought I’d start off with something many of you SMB owners never even think of – how to own page 1 at BING!
Huh? BING? Why’d anyone even think about that as an SEO strategy that might be important? Well, BING has approximately 16% of the total of 20 billion monthly searches or about 300+millions monthly searches….say 10 million a day. While stacked up against Googles 70%, it’s puny…but still 10 million searches a day…that’s a market one should not ignore…according to comscore.com!
Hence this great post over at SearchEngineLand.com by George Fischer of responsemine.com, wherein George lays out for us just what tactical items should be considered to dominate the BING index. After a quick read this am – then a drilled down one later….I can concur that he has taken into account about all the items you need to look at to gaing some page 1 dominance!
Please pay some attention to his use of some interesting facts – like that Seniors are the fastest growning segment at BING and FaceBook too….so if you’re looking at marketing to that demographic….do read this post! Also note his mentions of tactics for using Yelp, FaceBook & Twitter too….this is solid stuff here and well worth the click eh!
SugarRae is a wonderfully talented young woman who’s SEO chops I long ago learned were way way up there….and each year she runs a great series on LinkBuilding…and 2013 is no exception either. The post that just appeared is a long, very involved one that is chock full – and I mean FULL – of great link building advice for one and all.
The list of contributors that she gathered is too long for me to list – but I would note that some of my own personal link builders I think are great are here too….Aaron of seobook.com….Michael Gray of wold-howl.com….Rand of moz.com…. the whole list is bigger and I mean not only in size but in value too!
While I didn’t coin this phrase – “hasta la vista Alta Vista” it’s a sad day today…as Yahoo, owner of one of the oldest search engines over at AltaVista.com will be closing it down today. I feel sad about that, as back in the early 1990’s I did use same, it was one of our Top Ten search engines that we went out to get client rankings for and yes, I felt somewhat “tied” to that search engine myownself. I used it for years and loved it…and felt as did many other SEO practitioners that when Google came along….it’d have to really “go some” to beat AltaVista….which of course, it did do!
And if you do click that link, you’ll also note that Yahoo is ending many other of it’s products lives too…..guess that new CEO is pruning the Yahoo tree trying to get rid of all their losers…but so sad to see….bub-bye Alta Vista!
