Scott Smith: Our New COO at the Innovation Factory!
It’s a new day over at our #HamOnt Innovation Factory, and let me be one of the first to announce¸ that Scott Smith, BA LLB is the new replacement COO for our soon-to-depart Keanin Loomis who will move to run the Chamber here in just one week.
For those of you who do not know Scott, I would like to offer the following information to let you know what a great choice this was – and what I think it will mean for the future of our Innovation Factory.
Scott bills himself often as a “recovering lawyer” and while that does bring a smile to any listeners face, what it also means is that he has devoted over 20 years to senior legal, management and governance positions in both the public and private sectors.
I have known Scott for more than a year, and I know that as he says “…he has used his legal and management experience to offer senior level administrative and management services to transitioning enterprises including: HR and employment matters; management of legal services; corporate secretarial and regulatory advice; communications and government relations; board and governance advice, as well as offering expertise to individuals in advancing their careers in the corporate environment…”
THIS WAS A GREAT CHOICE!!!!
To know more about Scott, here’ s his LinkedIn profile…..
And for further information, yes….Scott also has his own consulting website and you can learn more here…
But what does that mean for our Innovation Factory?
Well the short answer is change….and that has me very interested in what that might mean for our “toddler” of a start-up community here in Hamilton.
So far, there’s not a single business person in town that wouldn’t agree IMHO, that our Innovation Factory under the leadership and vision of Ron Neumann and Keanin Loomis has really fought hard and long to get our start-up ecosystem up and running and the momentum grows each and every day.
And with Keanin now leaving to become our CEO of the Hamilton Chamber, Scott inherits the COO position and if it’s one thing that I know about Scott – having learned much from this leader it’s that he sees things from a different viewpoint – from a ‘big business’ vantage point that I think will be a welcome addition to the vision at our Innovation Factory….and I intend to give him all the support he wants….and <grin> advice he doesn’t too! A real part IMHO of a leader is to ask for counsel from others…and then to put into practice what they feel is the best way forward….
So again, welcome Scott….I know that you’ll be a large part of the new thrust of our Innovation Factory and can’t wait to see the next horizon….Google
