#HamOnt’s Big Startup Success – Our Innovation Factory!
Yes after about 2 years and a bit, last night our own Hamilton RIC (Regional Innovation Centre), our Innovation Factory opened up it’s brand new premises at McMaster’s Innovation Park and boy what a great party it was!
Filled up with local and GHTA and regional “movers & shakers” the reception was one of the best I’ve been to in years, with both politicians, angels, startups and the “usual suspects” in our community startup channel too!
I loved the event, but more on point…it was so nice to have been asked to join in to attend and listen to Ron Neumann, the Innovation Factory’s head honcho speak to our community and to give us the “state of our startup union” here in Hamilton.
Ron said lots and while I was a teensy part of the beginnings of same, he and Keanin Loomis, the IF Chief Advocate began the IF story a couple of years ago sharing a desk here at MIPs, and my how they’ve grown!
With 11 staff now and serving over 390 startup companies the IF is truly a #HamOnt success story after only a couple of years….and that is due to the hard work and efforts of a very large group of people too!
And after playing a role here as a Mentor and Workshop speaker I can tell you that the value added to our community by the Innovation Factory is a major BIG BIG deal for us and all business across the community!
Here’s a few pictures of the event…but you really should have been there, eh!
But here’s more of what Ron had to say…click here to get the .pdf on same….WELL worth the click, eh!
The reception as I said had lot’s on #HamOnt folks and Ron introduced two of Hamilton’s best known citizens…
Councillor Brian McHattie
Trivaris CEO Mark Chamberlain
And as you can see, the reception was definitely a great way to help celebrate another of our community’s success stories…kudos to Ron and the whole Innovation Factory team…for a job well done! And to Mark for his great comment on how “culture trumps strategy” too!
And lastly, our own Hamilton Spectator covered same too…so kudos to Meredith MacLeod for the great piece on both the Innovation Factory reception and on startups here too!
