Where is Technology Headed Next?
That said, one thing I wanted to do right up front in 2013 was to re-publish a great piece done just last Saturday here in #HamOnt by our Hamilton Spectator entitled “Where is Technology Headed” and sub titled “We’ve asked Hamilton’s Savvy Ones!” and yup, guess I’m one of same!
What the Spectator did, was via a couple of their most capable reporters, Lisa Marr and Meredith MacLeod, had them ask about what some Hamiltonians see affecting businesses — everything about the power of the tweet in 2013 to what new technologies will become the must-have for businesses…and boy, were we all pretty much “spot-on!”
The cast of “savvy” characters is also spot-on too….everyone from Kevin Browne of SoftwareHamilton, to Karen Grant of our own AngelOne Network, from Dave Elton of EDP Games to Chris Farias of kiteString Branding Studios, from Keanin Loomis of Innovation Factory to Martin Kupens of BraveNew Code and myself, we all had points to make and opinions to voice.
My own take was pretty straightforward and I offer it up here once again as an online marketing strategist, this strategy just must get attention…
“Rudnick is a successful entrepreneur (CEO at KKT Interactive) and avid blogger (canuckseo.com) who helps firms with SEO, business models and client acquisitions.
“One of the big things I’m watching is a shift in social media. It appears to me that Google is monitoring some social media sites more than others. One of those of course is Google +, its own social media network. In 18 months it has gained 400 million users. In the past six months if a site gets enough clicks on the Google + icon in the corner, it moves up significantly in Google searches.
“No one knows what this threshold is but Twitter is great to chat back and forth but it has no ranking and Facebook’s has dropped to about half. Facebook and Google are fighting it out like gladiators and Google seems to be gaining.
“I’m telling all of my clients, ‘get a Google + account!” Look for this trend in 2013.”
As you can see, what I point out is the new “strength” that Google is now weighting behind it’s own Social Media platform known as Google+ – and from what I and many many other Canadian SEO practitioners have noticed is that as they try to combat the superior strength of FaceBook, they use their own Google+ to reinforce their search engine rankings.
Did you get that? Google, the really only search engine there “is” is using their own Google+ social media platform to reinforce your SMB website rankings…there, I said it even plainer as it’s what I see day after day for my own client base.
Want to rank better? Then create your own Google+ company accounts, populate same, +1 same, blog on same, post discussions and LOTs of photos and opinion pieces on same…. now that’s even plainer.
Welcome to 2013….it’s gonna be a real online marketing doozy, eh!
