Why Inbound.org MUST be on Your Reading List!
So at weeks end, what have I got this time to have you spend your weekend thinking on – well, it’s a site by two of the globe’s best known online marketers – Rand Fishkin and Dharmesh Shah whom you must have heard about, right?
Well their site is www.inbound.org and what a great way to spend the weekend catching up on marketing knowledge, eh!
Well for those of you who know neither, let me just list some of their particulars. Rand is the founder of seomoz.com, one of the best known online SEO/SEM communities….and you can learn more here. Dharmesh Shah is one of the founders of the online marketing phenomenon, hubspot.com and you should go here to learn more about him and what his past is like.
But the real point of today’s post, is the rationale behind the creation of this site…it’s an aggregator of marketing pieces, articles, blog posts and just about anyone who’s anyone has made contributions to this site. Got a favourite? Search….and yes, you’ll find great pieces by everyone from Danny Sullivan to AJ Kohn, from Mark Traphagen to Ross Hudgens, from Bill Sebald to even a few by myself. Great company, but more importantly, what a great place to see various thoughts on onlne marketing.
And that’s not all, eh! There’s a wonderful Tools section, that after a quick look thru shows me that there are some very creative and sharing folks out there….and a read of what they make available for free is a real great area.
And there’s more too….how about a Jobs area that while not overflowing with opportunities, showed me that if I was only a few years younger, had no ties and my skillSet….would mean that I’d be jumping on at least three of them….gosh how I’d love to do what I do but in San Francisco!
Oh, there’s more tho…a side-bar to this piece needs telling about too….click here to go to mixergy.com and listen to the great interview by Andrew Warner of Rand Fishkin and his thoughts and aspirations on what inbound.org was meant to be…and what it’s become. What a great listen that was and I did re-wind a couple of spots to hear Rand explain it in depth! Make sure you listen carefully or read the transcript part on how Rand and Dharmesh met…and what ensued! Great to know!
Oh, and for a real listen, search mixergy.com for other interviews with Rand…the one I like best is now I think 2 years old or so…on the fortunes and foibles of getting seomoz.com up and running and successful! Some really great entrepreneur necessary items to learn from in that one too!
