Happy Second Birthday to CanuckSEO.com!
That’s not to say at times, it’s not been a real chore…trying to come up with a topic that is both newsworthy on SEO, on local business and SEO, on Canadian wide national SEO and on Google itself…..something that at the least the kind folks up on the mothership have been so kind as to provide same. Monthly, weekly and yup sometimes even daily too!
But one thing has remained pretty constant, in the SEO world….and that is that the changes that we SEO practitioners see happen, occur with more regularity now than say a year ago. One year and a few weeks ago the big news was the “melding” over at Google of the local and full indexes, i.e. the incorporation into a single index for SEO rankings…and that was pretty much one of the biggest challenges we faced. Since then? Well, let’s see….we’ve seen Overstock get penalized along with many more firms too, we’ve seen Panda or the Local/Farmer updates to the algo rolled out to the horror of many content farms; we’ve seen the +1 button launched with it’s new relevance on resulting serps; we’ve seen more Panda updates, then schema intakes and yup then the launch of the Google+ new social networks and with the revelation of Schmidt’s that the Google teams tested more than 13,000 algo updates and actually used about 500+ of same, I’d say that much of the past year has been a lesson for us SEO practitioners in change. Change is good. Change can be responded to…once you learn to hypothesize, test, analyze and then re-test…sigh.
So, what do we see as being “new” for the next year in SEO? No idea, really. Sure, there’ll need to be some answers by Google on the phony review rankings via their algo and yes, I’d also think that there will be more coming down the pike on their Google+ social app….but like the rest of us folks in SEO land….I will react only when and if there are changes that can be tested. Anything else is futile, we’ve learned….and aint’ that the truth, eh!
So, happy second birthday to us! SEO…..organic Canadian SEO mind you….still rules the serps and that’s at least a constant that hasn’t changed….at least yet, eh! So thanks for dropping by and reading our blog…as we’ve said many times, we love what we do….and can’t wait to get up each morning and into the office. Love what you do would be our mantra…and lets’ see what the next year brings, eh Google!
