Our Go-To-Market Online Marketing Strategy!

Our basic belief in being a practicing online marketing guy is the simple one that for anything to work, one must first “plan” your work and then on a regular basis, “work your plan!” taught to us by marketing types over our own career in everything from being a brand manager to a college professor to an SEO practitioner!

To do that, we have learned over the past 35 years that the planning of an online marketing campaign takes skill based on empirical evidence, gathered by testing and analyzing and tweaking. Evidence that over those years, we gathered from staying as close to the leading edge of “what works” for online marketing by being in touch with other experts, analyzing client campaigns and tactics to upgrade our strategic thinking and then reading and researching bulletin boards, message boards, forums and now blogs…it’s a constant part of our day and that information is never accepted on behalf of our clients without full testing and analysis – it’s that process we’ve found to work and as you can see by the Online Marketing Pyramid I’m showing here, it’s a full-on process that requires constant commitment with scheduled monthly, weekly and daily tasks to all climb those tasks to online marketing success!

So, as a result of that set of guiding principles, I am hereby announcing that I will be publishing our own Online Marketing “Go-To-Market” strategy right here on this blog – complete with tactics, URLs and links to other experts as well as wherever possible, empirical guides to same! This whole exercise will take I’m sure at least 8 months to cover at a minimum of one blog posting per week…so please bookmark this blog and get ready for the ride! You see, what follows herein, is a set of foundational building blocks for anyone looking to develop their own website’s online marketing plan based on our tried and true testing of scheduled tasks. Come once a week, and read….and learn! I promise you, you will not be disappointed!

To begin, let’s first consider the reason that you’re even here, reading this piece. You have a website, as folks have told you that you need one to help sell your own products or services, right? Thought so. And further, you’ve maybe even had that site up and running for a bit and so far, you’re at a loss to try to explain why the launch of your site has NOT resulted in a horde or leads or orders or revenues, right? Thought so.

Well welcome to the first building block rationale that the movie “Field of Dreams” was wrong! It you build it — they will NOT come…cause they don’t even know you exist….and why is that?

First, you need to realize that you are trying to provide a unique service or a product to your marketing universe…but do you actually “know” what it is they may be looking for first? Are they after something special? Do you know what they are after from a 40,000 foot level in your channel? Do you know what they like/dislike in GUIs when it comes to your channel? Do you know what it is they expect…and, if you actually know this information, how could you use it to improve your site and it’s offerings…ahh…there’s the real meat of this building block! What can you do to gather that information to understand what kind of a USP – unique selling proposition – that will help turn website visitors into leads…and yes, then into customers!

You will learn here how to provide something to them, but what is it you want back in return? Is it money? Is this venture how you intend to make your living and pay your bills? Is it fame? Are you looking to be the next famous founder who sells out but becomes famous when doing so? Like Bronfman or Bell from previous generations, or Haney or Abbot from Trivial Pursuit or Ted Livingston of Kik Messenger and the list is endless. Is it a more ‘social’ rationale perhaps, a green or community based desire to succeed?

Is that what you’re after? Money? Fame?  Respect? And the authority that comes with it? Responsibility too!

You need to decide on that too for a host of reasons because that has – and I will show – a direct bearing on how you “engage” your audience…your customers…your clients.

  1. I do really agreeing on using online as a strategy of marketing. In the world we have now, we should also be competitive. Most people, especially the young ones are living on the internet now. So it’s better to start ahead and collect information or ask some help.
