.CA Impact Awards: It’s For us Canucks, eh!
First, the announcement can be found here, on the CIRA site itself….and as it points out, there are more than 1.5 million .CA sites out there…to “celebrate and honour their positions on the front lines of the digital economy in Canada, an award of $5000 awaits winners of the CIRA Impact Awards…” is what they have offered as the rationale behind these Awards — and I say a BIG CONGRATS to the folks over at CIRA!
The Rules of course must be followed and here’s what they have to say about “eligibility” —
“The .CA Impact Awards program is open only to individuals and organizations that currently have a valid .CA domain name registered to them and who have reached the age of majority in their province of residence. Any entries from ineligible individuals or organizations will be destroyed and will not be considered for judging…”
Next, click on the “How Will My .CA be Judged” to read up on the various eligible categories that they’ve made available and yes, just about every one of them will get lots of entrants in our mind and again here’s the intro to same —
“We understand the Internet is more than technology – it is a significant force, a catalyst, and a powerful agent of social change. That’s why the .CA Impact Awards celebrates the impact of .CA websites and applications. We are looking for people and organizations that use their .CA sites to truly make a difference in the lives of their users and those around them. Impact can include providing a product or service that many want, connecting people and making new alliances possible, raising funds that then go to help others, the list goes on. Impact can be social, technological or economic…”
Further on that page, CIRA outlines the 4 categories that one can enter their own .CA site as an award contestant which are — ELearning, Small Business, Not-For-Profit and Web Technolgy & Design…and a good read there shows that the Awards will be both contested and only of the highest quality….so you need to think long on this, eh!
And, as you’ve hopefully read, the big take-away from their judging criteria would be “celebrates the impact” of your .CA site…think on that for a bit. If you have a great and beautiful .CA site that is aesthetically pleasing….and everyone tells you it’s the best thing since beaver hats — that may not be enough to gain you much traction…it’s the “making a difference in the lives of their users” that is the criteria to think on….and then choose to enter the Awards competition, eh! Oh, did we mention that there is a $5000 CDN cash prize as well as all the great publicity as one of the .CA Impact Award winners….and what that kind of win can do for your Canadian SEO would be a solid boost to your sites authority/trust rankings, eh!
Seems like the “right thing to do” if you’re a Canuck, who’s proud of their .CA website and who has made just that difference….so please do take a look/see at this unique Canadian .CA Awards program over at CIRA…and help celebrate all things Canuck!Google
