Canadian SEO & SMBS: Knowledge is Needed!

A recent look at this area of interest, i.e. the link that “should” exist between SMBs  and SEO here in Canada has shown one thing big time — that for much of the SMB world, such a knowledgeable link does not exist! And how did I learn that? Simple, I found the info both here at DIYSEO and the link from there over to the Ad-Ology Research site offering up the full report here…

Okay, so the Report and the infographic on same tell one what, you ask…as yes, it does cost to get the full Research Report and you may be thinking that you’ve got a better place to spend some hard-earned dollars than on research today, right? Well, before I answer that query, take a look see here at the DIYSEO infographic on same….

As you can see, the infographic spells out quite clearly, that the % ‘s of SMBs, who either have a website that practices “Advanced” SEO while still further numbers show that 47% of SMBs dont even practice either any or very little SEO at all! Think about that for a second….almost half of all websites (the survey sample was based it states on 752 SMB participants) don’t have SEO working for them. They may well have a beautiful looking site, maybe even with products for sale or information to share…but they are NOT using SEO to be found…sigh….

Further study shows that a full 12% of all SMB websites are NOT EVEN INDEXED in ANY search engine…..i.e. the bots have never even visited same to find them to add them to their indexes…hence searching for them would never ever bring them any online buyer/client/customer….sigh…

And lastly, perhaps to us the most stunning number of all….that only 54% of SMBs even HAVE a website….meaning of course that 46% DO NOT….how’s that for smart management of your business in today’s online world…sigh (the Research Report TOC is here too…if you want to see more….)

So…back to that query about the value of research….is there  a link between research and knowledge? And the answer is — well, you tell me, eh…

Is there such a link?

Unfortunately, alot of people think that having a website is like having a billboard up on a street for their business, eventually they will get found. Unfortunately, there is no correlation.

I have a friend who build a site last year in June. He thought he will get so many visitors because he handed out business cards to all his friends. He checked his stats today and since June he had 15 visitors.

I sent him a few links including your blog ;)
