Blogging for Google Rankings? Yes Please!
Evidence is in….and has been noted by many many others SEO types on line over the past year or so, but it’s taken us this long to arrive at our own empirical evidence that yes, if you blog at least twice a week, you will see increased rankings and we’ve got the serp reports to prove same.
Of course, your mileage may vary, that’s the first caution here…but for this blog, the one you’re reading right now here at canuckseo.com, we see after only one year, great rankings via our at least twice weekly blog postings. Of course, like all things, you must consider the channel that you’re “in” and SEO is not an easy one to compete with others for higher rankings….but so far, so good, eh!
First, others and what they’ve said shown below as a series of links…these are the pieces that I researched and read entirely — including, yes all of the collateral other links on same to see if there was evidence, even ad hoc or anecdotal evidence, that blogging might help….
Bruce Clay said this way back in January/2010 — and updated in August/2010 too!
Over at Rand’s SEOMOZ.com, here’s some links that offer up their own take on same!
But that’s not all there is…a quick google.ca search for “blogging for seo rankings” got me 1.6 million hits…more than enough to pour thru and look over various takes from many many other SEO practitioners to see what they think about using a blog to increase your site rankings.
Lee Odden over at TopRankMarketing ran a survey earlier this year too…and shows us all that “…87.4% of us respondents “successfully increased measureable SEO objectives as a direct result of blogging!” …right here as we reported back in January/2010 too!
So okay, you get maybe by now that if you DO spend the time to develop a great blog in your own channel, that folks will come by for a look/see and you may gain some degree of authority and trust from those visitors….that’s a given most of us SEO practitioners agree on.
But Google? Does Google agree and therefore rank your site higher with an attached blog?
Answer is — shown here below with our own serp rankings…yes!
Here’s two charts, from our own ranking software for this blog — www.canuckseo.com and how in the first 6 months of this year, we’ve gone from ZILCH to #1 on google.ca for these terms, eh!
SEO Rankings for mid-November 2009:
As you will note that for our selected keywords (12) we ranked not a single one.
We were ZERO for them all….our Visibility Score is ZERO!
— just where anyone who’s brand new would be too, IMHO!
SEO Rankings for mid-May 2010:
6 months later in mid May, we had a 33+% Visiblity Score, with 89 total ranked keyword
listings and had 30 in #1 positions too! Not too bad for 26 weeks of blogs, eh!
Hmm…you’re thinking….maybe, eh? Maybe if you blog, you can gain some ground…and yes, the answer is still YUP, eh!Google
