SEO Infographics: a Monday Morning Look-See!
Oh sure, I know and so do you, that SEO rankings come from a host of factors and that IBLs, inbound backlinks play a major part in that, and that yes as I’ve written about before, such Infographics are terrific IBL bait too.
That said, you’ve just gotta see the three I’ve found and aggregated here for your edification!
First up today, is the great one entitled “Everybody’s Doing It!” from Flowtown and it’s based on the research and stats from Michael Steltzner, one of the founders over at socialmediaexaminer.com, with the data from same coming from their own “Social Media Marketing Industry Report for 2010″ — a great study, eh! This deserves a real study of the various items found and reported and the opening comments by Michael say it all, eh —
“Social media is hot! And for businesses it represents a marketing opportunity that transcends the traditional middleman and connects companies direclty with customers. This is why nearly every business on the planet — from giants like Starbucks and IBM to the local ice cream shop — are exploring social media marketing initiatives!”
The long Infographic goes on to show numbers that as I said, are somewhat surprising — did you know that 56% of online businesses spend more than 6 hours weekly on social media marketing? And of that number, 12% of them spend more than 20 hours weekly? That’s commitment and we envision those numbers growing substantially in the next year too!
Next, we’ve got another great Infographic entitled “How Social Media Sites Are Fighting Spam” and it’s from a great guest blogger over at SearchEngineJournal, named Dona Collins who blogs about many things in online education here. This is another great piece and it’s full of really interesting numbers.
As stated and well known, the amount of spam that attempts to defeat spam filters grows, even though the spammers use bitmap images to replace keywords that can be filtered out, or they change the spellling of keywords as in using “V1agra” (by substituting in the digit 1 instead of a lower case i) and this too works…sigh…
Further down are some more interesting numbers including the one that really got me — that if you don’t have any kind of a spam filter running on your email client, you’d get at least 50 spams daily. That’s about spot-on from what I can tell hits our own servers and though we do run big, very aggressive spam filter software, it just seems that we’re you-know-whatting into the wind, eh!
This one gets the nod and I liked it for a couple of reasons. First, the Infographic was easy to understand and follow along and it both verified what I already know about IBLs and I also learned a great tip too, from their Step #3 area on sharing…..and ain’t it always a bonus to learn something from a new source!
In the Infographics Test Your Stickiness area, there are a host of great tips too….and the one that stuck out for me was this one —
“Your linkbait should have a clear thesis. It should be able to be explained in terms of sensory information. Ambiguity is boring, specifics lead to interest!”
So thanks to these 3 Infographic creations….great way to learn and yes, a great way to teach too, eh!Google
